A Lot of Success

My new area is Los Fresnos! I am now in Brownsville Zone. I am actually in Brownsville right now. I have been waiting a long time to come here. I have had 3 companions that have served here. I am loving it already.

Address: 32452 Gaynor Dr. Apt 5. Apparently we may move sometime soon though.

The pictures today will give you a little taste of Los Fresnos. The picture below is what we saw after crossing a super deep ditch (we took a wrong turn). Apparently we crossed through Teribithea (notice the writing on the utility box).

The other picture is of a goat we saw in the middle of town. Just leashed to the side of the house.

We had a miracle this week; we found a lady and her grandkids on Thursday and they came to church yesterday! It was awesome! It looks like we are going to have a lot of success in this area.

Goodbye again

Last night they told me that I'm getting transferred. To where I do not know. But I will be in a different area.

On Friday I was on an exchange in our area and I didn't have a backup plan for our 6 o clock appointment and as I thought about where to go I had a feeling that we should go to the end of a certain street in the area. We went and began knocking doors. We knocked on one house with a checkerboard driveway and a grumpy old man opened the door and told us to go away.

However after a couple more doors a younger man walking down the checkerboard driveway called out and said "Hi Elders!" FYI it is not common for people to call us elders. So we went to talk to him and he told us that he is a member! He hasn't been to church in 20 years and hasn't talked to missionaries in 10 years and just a week before we met him he had started to think about going back to church.

If that isn't inspiration (I mean the Spirit) then I don't know what is. It was like Nephi when he went to get the plates (the third try).

I exhort all of you to be worthy of the guidance of the Holy Ghost and I also recommend following the promptings you receive.

On Saturday we did zone roleplays (where we practice teaching), but instead of straight practicing lessons we played jeopardy! So some of the time we were quizzed on scripture knowledge and sometimes we did a roleplay. That was pretty cool.

Happy Birthdays!

Dad's birthday on the 18th! And Elder Weight turned 20 on the 12th!

This is what we found when we got home Friday night:

The other Elders in our district attacked our apartment.

I mentioned that Elder Weight is from Hillsboro, right? One of his birthday packages was some pine cones! They smell great!

Here's a cool lawn ornament we found:

The last pic is a rebellious biker at the Marine Military Academy:

Sorry there's not a lot of words to say this week. That's really the majority of the week.

Hello world!

Three cool things happened this week.

Number One: On Thursday we had a zone meeting scheduled, so we all went to the church at 10. That's when the ZLs got a call and were informed that Pres Torres was going to come to do interviews at 11. So we were all surprised but it was super great. My interview was super quick, but that's because there was nothing to talk about. I am doing what I am supposed to do. I kind of felt like the guys in the parable of the talents when the master says,"Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." (Matt. 25:21) I think that really is the goal in life: to hear Christ say that. It really motivated me to always be worthy. ðŸ™‚

Number Two: Later t
hat night
President
had a meeting with all of the leadership in the stake and he
shared his vision on how he wanted everybody to work toward having a temple here. All of the missionaries and members are going to be working super hard now. I am excited.

Number Three: This Sunday we had a random guy show up to church. It was awesome. His name is Raul. He has a full head and chin of white hair. He just said that he felt like he needed a spiritual boost, so he showed up. He seems really cool, I will let you know how it goes with him.

That is about it for this week!

Cherry On Top

We found a super awesome lady this week! Coolest finding story too! If you remember, I sent home a photo of "Washington Square" neighborhood in reference to Washington Square Mall back home. At that time that we found it we said, more or less jokingly, "We are going to find and baptize somebody here!" So on Monday when we ran through our plans half an hour before the day ended, we drove by the neighborhood and I decided it was a perfect time to go. We had nothing else to do anyway.

As we drove down the street we looked toward one particular house and knocked the door. Lupita opened the door and welcomed us right inside, no questions asked. She has been super cool ever since. She has read some of the pamphlets we gave her already, she came to church yesterday, and she even offered to feed us dinner. (We will eat on Wednesday!) She told us during our second visit that a week before we found her, she had started praying for guidance and she admits that we may have been the answer to those prayers.

Definitely the highlight of the week. One of the highlights of the mission, even.

To put the cherry on top, we also had 4 less-active (haven't been at church recently) households come to church.

We had our Zone Conference this week and President Torres changed a bunch of stuff. He even changed our daily schedule. Before, we would do all of our studies and lunch in the morning then leave by noon. However, now we leave at 10 and do 2 hours of less active visits, and then do our lunch and Spanish study. It is super cool. It is obviously working already.

I am loving this area. And I love the people.
