Leap day!

I have accomplished many things this week. I received a Spanish compliment from a member yesterday. She said that my accent was really good. I hope that means that my Spanish will be just like a native by the time I finish my mission. This morning at basketball I got a comment comparing me to a video game character. I said,"these are not my lucky shorts." And somebody else said they could imagine a video game character saying it. 

​We had​ an interzone exchange this week. There are two whole zones here in the city of Laredo so we get together with them sometimes. We switched companions all through the north and south. I stayed in my area and ended up with Elder Eisenhut! (eye-zin-hut) He is one of the zone leaders in the north and I also was in Harlingen Zone with him for my first 3 transfers there. Basically, that means we had a blast. I learned a lot about having a great attitude and being yourself. Let's just say he made people laugh a lot. 

​Below: Ping pong​ this morning got a little intense. We were using 4 balls at once so I figured a bigger paddle would help. The table got in the way of my swing though...

Anyways, we are having fun! Remember to always be unique! That is what God wants, believe it or not. ​

Super Cool Surprise Meeting

Well I found a really creepy pig this week.

Also, we had a super cool surprise meeting in McAllen. We found out Friday morning and went down Saturday morning. The whole mission was there! We drove 3 hours down to McAllen to meet with Elder Lawrence E. Corbridge of the seventy. The meeting lasted from 9AM to 11:30AM. Then we drove 3 hours back. So we drove more than twice as long as the meeting. We also got pulled over and given an outrageous ticket on the way down. We even found out that we were not supposed to be there. Only the Valley missionaries (within one hour of McAllen) were going to go. President wanted Elder Myler to be there though (because he sings super well) and since he is up here in Laredo, Pres just invited the whole mission. 'Twas good though.

In fact on the way back up, when we stopped in Zapata, we found out one companionship was about an hour behind. We decided to do a quick blitz while we waited. I got to go with Hatfield! It was only like 40 minutes but I had fun. Also, it was the first time Sisters had worked in Zapata in years. 

Also this morning we woke up at 5AM. We went super early to the sisters apartment and washed their cars before they could. They get up around 6 or 6:15 to do it so we had to sacrifice some sleep. 

So things are going good!

Snap Happy!

I am going to go with the excuse of more pictures allows fewer words. We found some crazy things this week.

Basically everything is super awesome. We had our 3 day training this week so I was in Edinburg for 4 days and then here for the rest of the week. I got to see a bunch of friends down in McAllen. I spent a lot of time with Elder Thompson.  Interestingly I was actually working with Elder Thompson's companion Elder Diaz for the 3 days. I thought that was pretty cool. Everything here is super good too.

For P-day yesterday we went to one of the Branch President's house and had an awesome nerf war. It was great.

Meetings in McAllen

I'm going to McAllen today! This week will be my first 3 Day training! Every 3 months, all the DLs, ZLs, and STLs meet in McAllen for 3 days of meetings. We have to be there at 5pm today. It sounds like I have plenty of time, but Laredo is 3 hours away from McAllen. I get to take a nice long car ride down there. I'm excited though!

Also we were biking one day and found a goat tied to a pickup truck in our area (below). That just about sums up Rio Bravo. 

Also, being a DL is like the best thing ever. I get to help the wonderful sisters and my companion. I am what you call a relief society president. I am the district leader of all sisters. The district consists of me and my companion (there has to be at least two elders [gotta have a DL]) and 4 sisters. Sister Tait and Sister Moore are STLs and Sister Smith is training Sister Perez. This is Sister Perez' very first transfer. It is also Sister Smith's 3rd transfer. She just barely finished being trained and is now training!

I am having a lot of fun with all of it. It is not necessarily more stressful but a different kind of stress. It 's fun.

Roll Into a Ball and Die!

My area is great. My companion Elder Peake is great. District Leader is somewhat stressful but super fun as well. I want to write more, but I am getting pretty sick so I have almost no energy at all. We should just be happy that I made it to the library today. The sick aches were so bad this morning, I was ready to roll into a ball and die. Other than that everything is great.

I promise I will do better next week.
