Indirectly Saved a Guy

Easter happened, yay!

​We went to an Easter party​ and got served cool Piña Loca things. I got bunny ears in my package from home so I wanted to wear those too. 

​This week we had Zone Conference​, so Laredo North and South zones got together to learn a ton from President. He doubled his allotted time (He talked for 2 hours instead of 1) but I'm not complaining because there was a lot to learn. There were lots of great music performances as well. It was just a great time overall.

We met a Mexican on Saturday! We talk to hispanic people 99% of the time, but on Saturday we talked to an actual Mexican. We went down to the river to take a break like we usually do, and this time when we got toward the edge we saw a guy on the other side with a raft. He asked if we were Border Patrol but didn't believe us when we said no, so he turned around and started dragging his raft back up the hill. Super got him! Good thing too, because a border patrol guy came by 30 seconds later. We indirectly saved a guy.

That is probably the best news for the week. ​It was pretty exciting.

Yes.

So we met a really weird lady after we found her dog. When we asked why it was blue she just replied, "It was that or pink!" So she colored her dog blue.

Also Domino's messed up their proverb. One C can be the difference between wisdom and being a jerk.

And last but not least, I wanted you all to be aware of the construction quality down here. It's rare to find a foundation. They just place concrete blocks and start building.

We had a super great miracle this week! We had a zone exchange Monday and Tuesday, so I was with Elder Moser. He is a super awesome missionary so I knew we were going to have some success. Tuesday, we went looking for people like normal and knocked a bright orange house. Nobody answered. But while we stood by the door, Haydee got home. (It's pronounce I-day [enunciate the I] in Spanish). We had a great chat and came to find that she has recently seen some videos that have made her doubt her church (Catholic), and that her sister is a member [of our church] that attends in North Laredo. We talked to her again on Wednesday and then she came to church with her husband and daughter on Sunday! Her sister came to our branch to fellowship her also. Super cool!

I Am Teancum

We went to a new spot at the river. I actually threw a dog into the water from this spot. It was pretty funny.

Happy PI day! 

It's all good in the hood! You can see how ghetto Rio Bravo is in the pic below. The City Hall is a shed. It's great.

So transfers were this last week. Nothing changed. Out of 18 missionaries in the zone, only the 2 that finished their missions left. So it feels as if transfers didn't even happen. The weird thing is this: I had been with Sister Tait and Elder Hatfield in San Benito, and they just went home. Elder Chamberlain just came from San Benito to be my ZL and Sister Thompson came to be in my district. It is kind of odd but great!

I don't know what else to report this week... 

Oh I remember. (There was a 30 second pause at the ellipsis while I was thinking.)

 

This transfer, our zone is putting a stronger focus on the Book of Mormon. We are all going to be Book of Mormon Heroes. We were actually assigned names from the BoM that fit us (who we are and who we should become) and I am Teancum, the fearless Captain in Moroni's army. I have been studying him a lot and I am working on being more courageous. Read about him in Alma 51 and 52.

Obedience Brings Blessings

We found a horse this week! I'm sending two photos of it so you can see my whole face in the first one and then I just like the second one. 

And then we went to a backyard bbq. On Saturday we got to go to the Banda's house. They have a lot of animals and a lot of dirt behind their house. I pretty much only noticed the peacock and the food. Priorites.

Also, we took a zone photo last P-day! No explanation necessary.

As for spiritual experiences/learnings this week, we cleaned up the broken glass! Remember how I broke the mirror a week ago? We were lazy and didn't clean it up. On Tuesday the ZLs went to McAllen for their monthly meeting and got corrected on lots of things. They brought back their learnings to Zone Meeting on Thursday. They shared some trainings on cleaning our apartments. Up until then we hadn't been super clean, and there was broken glass all over the floor. Also, up until then we had been doing terribly on our numbers. We couldn't find any new investigators or get any good sit down lessons Monday thru Wednesday. So after the meeting on Thursday, when we felt spirit-jacked, before going out to work we swept up the mirror and then had a fantastic day! Friday and Saturday were also super successful. We just couldn't do work because we were disobedient in the apartment. We learned very quickly that obedience (especially cleanliness) brings blessings. So keep the commandments!
